Poster Guidelines

The Poster Session will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, June 1st in the Boise State Student Union Building, Jordan Ballroom A/B/C.  Presenters need to stand by their poster(s) during the entire poster session.  Light appetizers will be provided.

Presenters are responsible for the setup and take down of their poster.  Setup may occur immediately preceding the poster session and presenters should take down their poster immediately following the conclusion of the poster session.  Posters that are not removed will be discarded.  Some adhesive Velcro will be provided to set up your poster.

The maximum size of the poster should be: 46’’ x 46’’, but smaller posters are recommended (for instance, 46’’ wide by 34.5’’ high if your preference is landscape or reverse if your preference is portrait).   Note: Poster size can be manipulated in Page Setup of PowerPoint.

If this is your first poster presentation, we recommend that you utilize resources on best practices for poster creation.  Here is one useful website: Note: If you use the poster template from this website, it is set up for 48’’ (wide) by 36’’ (high), please adjust these dimensions for your HBES poster.

Oral Presentation Sessions

All oral presentations will be 15 minutes in length with an additional 5 minutes for questions.  If you are presenting, please have your talk downloaded to the laptop before your session begins.  In non-symposium sessions, the last presenter will serve as the session chair.

Conference Food

Please notify the conference organizers if you have a dietary restriction.  We will have vegetarian options at the Welcome Reception, Mentor Lunch, Poster Session, Barbecue, Banquet, and all coffee breaks.

The Banquet dinner choices include: New York Manhattan Cut Steak, Seared Chicken with Roasted Pineapple Salsa, and Chickpea and Roasted Vegetable Coconut Curry.  You will make your dinner selection at registration.

The Boise River Café (BRC) will be open for breakfast (Wednesday – Sunday, 7:30am – 9am) and lunch (Wednesday – Sunday 1:00pm – 2:30pm).  The BRC is located in the first floor of the Student Union Building – the conference venue (see map).  It is all-you-can-eat, cafeteria dining.  Cost: $7.18 for breakfast, $9.60 for lunch.

Free Street Parking

Many of the streets around campus have free street parking.  Be sure to check the signs – there are streets that do not allow overnight parking, those that only allow 30 minute or 2-hour parking, and those that are residential only – but they are all clearly marked. I recommend parking on: University Drive (no overnight parking), S Manitou Ave between University & Belmont, S Euclid Ave between University & Belmont, S Grant Ave between University & Belmont or Belmont (just check signs to avoid the 30-minute parking spots).  See map for highlighted area of parking recommendations.
